Most of America celebrates heritage and identity as what they call "nation of immigrants" There is a deep ambivalence about future immigration. After immigration there is a strong base of support that continued immigration as the necessary ingredient for the economic growth and the essential element of a cosmopolitan society. On the other side, there's a substitutional share, perhaps a majority, of Americans who are opposed to a continuation of large scale of immigration. Many opponents of immigration our old stock Americans who have all but forgotten there immigrant ancestor.

Supreme Court case in which the decision actually made segregation the law of the land. Homer Plessy bought a train ticket from New Orleans to Covington, Louisiana. He was seven eighth white and one eighth black he sat in the " whites only " car. He refused to move so he was arrested under the Jim Crow Car Act of 1890 required separate but equal accommodations for whites and blacks on railroad cars.

Ellis Island experiences a sharp decline in receiving immigrants: From 178,416 in 1915, the total drops to 28,867 in 1918. Anti-immigrant sentiment increases after the U.S. enters the war in 1917; approximately 1,800 German citizens are seized on ships in East Coast ports and interned at Ellis Island before being deported. |
Booker T. Washington.Booker T. Washington was born a slave in Virginia, who lived and worked in the coals mines and salts works around Malden, West Virginia, became a national spokesperson for race relations. Washington was highly educated, and heavily emphasized educations, cultivating of good work habits and morals, and cooperation between blacks and whites in a segregated society. Washington did not promote the mixing of races but believed but believed they should work together for a common cause. Duebois on the other hand had a whole different perspective on the issue of race relations. So then Duebois favored vigorous protest against all racial injustices based on "all men are created equal" in the declaration.

he was an American veterinarian. since 1985 he had been with aphis, (animal and plant health inspection service) the United States department of agriculture. where he held various positions including USDA chief veterinary officer. he then received a DVM and BS degrees in animal science from the university of Missouri and before joining aphis he was a private veterinarian.
W.E.D Duboishe was an American socialogist, historian, civil rights activist, Pan-Americanist, author, and editor. Born in Great barrington, Massachusetts, Du Bois grew up in a relatively tolerant and integrated community.
